Benefits

  • Firm, slow pressure aimed at persistent knots rather than general relaxation.
  • Good for long-held tension from sport, posture or years at a desk.
  • The one to choose when a relaxing massage has not been enough to shift it.

What to expect

You will be asked briefly about any injuries, conditions or areas to avoid, then left to undress to your comfort level and lie under a sheet on a heated table. The practitioner works with oil unless the technique calls for something else, checking in on pressure as they go. Drink water afterwards, and expect the area worked to feel looser rather than sore for more than a day.

Frequently asked questions

Does deep tissue massage hurt?

It is firmer and slower than a Swedish massage and can feel intense on stubborn knots, but the therapist checks the pressure with you throughout. Afterwards the area should feel looser, not sore for more than a day.

How much does Deep Tissue Massage cost?

Deep Tissue Massage costs $70 and lasts 60 min. 90-minute session: $100.

Is Deep Tissue Massage done at the studio or online?

In person, at our studio at 26 Gergi Zeidan Street, Tabaris, Achrafieh, Beirut.

Who leads Deep Tissue Massage sessions?

Khouloud or Rima. You can ask for a particular practitioner when you book.

Which massage should I choose?

Swedish for general tension and stress, and the default if you are unsure. Deep tissue for persistent knots and long-held tension. Thai for stiffness and restricted movement, done clothed on a mat. Lymphatic drainage for fluid retention and heavy legs, not for muscle knots.

What do I wear during a massage?

You undress to whatever you are comfortable with, in private, and lie under a sheet on a heated table. Only the area being worked on is uncovered. For Thai massage and reflexology you stay fully clothed.

How often should I get a massage?

For general wellbeing and stress, once a month is a sensible default. For a specific problem, weekly or fortnightly for three to six sessions, then space them out. For desk stiffness, every three to four weeks alongside some daily stretching.
